Coast and Ocean (20–30 mins)
The stunning Atlantic coastline is just a short drive away. Choose between the lively Furadouro Beach in Ovar — ideal for surfing and enjoying freshly caught fish — the picturesque Costa Nova in Ílhavo with its iconic striped wooden houses (palheiros), or Barra Beach, home to the tallest lighthouse in Portugal and the second tallest in Europe.
Porto and Aveiro (30 mins)
Two unmissable destinations just half an hour away. On one side, the magnetic charm of Porto, with its UNESCO-listed historic centre, historic wine cellars in Vila Nova de Gaia for wine tastings, and romantic cruises along the River Douro. On the other, the elegant canals of Aveiro, the “Venice of Portugal”, best explored aboard the colourful traditional moliceiro boats while sampling the famous ovos moles sweets.

For adventure lovers, the Serra da Freita and the Arouca Geopark (a UNESCO Global Geopark) offer breathtaking natural landscapes. Here, you can test your head for heights on the 516 Arouca, one of the world’s longest suspended pedestrian bridges, walk along the spectacular Paiva Walkways, and discover the fascinating geological phenomenon of the Pedras Parideiras (“Birthing Stones”), unique in the world.
History and Tradition (1 hour)
A journey into the cultural heart of Portugal. Visit Guimarães, the “birthplace of the nation”, where Portugal’s first king was born, and explore its medieval castle. Discover Braga, known as the “Portuguese Rome”, famous for its baroque atmosphere and the monumental sanctuaries of Bom Jesus do Monte — with its iconic staircase — and Sameiro. Finally, be enchanted by Coimbra, the former capital city and home to one of Europe’s oldest and most prestigious universities, including the magnificent Joanina Library.
